The suit says Uber should have known and cared about these arrests. Yusufzai, the Uber driver, and the owner of the Uber van, Dawood Kohistanti, were arrested on misdemeanor charges involving a “gambling den” and drug possession in 2014, according to the lawsuit and a media accounts. The company excludes drivers if, in the last seven years, they have convictions for any felonies, driving-related offenses, violent crimes, sex offenses, child abuse or endangerment, speeding over 100 mph, reckless driving, street racing, or alcohol- or drug-related driving offenses. Uber says it requires background checks for drivers, according to its website.
